CHIT - About us - general
We want to see young people with little hope grow in a caring environment with the best education possible, to thrive as adults, contribute to their community, and build the next generation.
We our a faith based charity, but we welcome those of different faiths and none at all, to join us in this enterprise. We do not, and can not encourage Christian proselytism by our Indian partners, who celebrate religious festivals of the main faiths and civic events. Opposite - independence Day parade.
15 home staff look after about 160 children resident in childrens homes in Bapatla and Nidamarru, support about 20 HIV+children in the community, and support about 70 young people in vocational, college and university programmes.
We also support the Elizabeth Barrie High School which provides education
for about 110 children from the Bapatla home and a similar number from local families.
These year 10s are learning to use microscopes provided by Katherine Lady Berkeley School in Gloucester.
Initially the high School only provided for Years 1-10, there are now two kindergarten classes, growing to three this year. They mainly provide for local families, who are willing to pay for the high quality given, contributing to the sustainability of the school.
